Andy Pardoe

Professor Andy Pardoe has had a lifelong interest in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. This book is the result of his mission to understand how we can build advanced artificial intelligence applications and systems, to solve real problems in an intelligent way. From the simplest of problems that are annoying when the technology solution doesn’t quite work properly, to the most challenging of problems where only the most advanced technology solutions would be able to get close to solving it.

This journey started in his very early teens, hearing for the first time on the TV about biologically inspired computing, and from that point on, being singularly motivated to learn more about technical implementations of intelligence that replicated the way our own biological computational unit worked (our brain). He studied Computer Systems Engineering at Warwick University and continued to do a PhD in AI, specifically Neural Networks.

Previously the Principal Director for Artificial Intelligence at Accenture Digital with a focus on delivery across multiple industry groups including Financial Services, Health & Public Safety and Telecommunications, Media and High Technology. Also specialising on AI Innovation and Strategy aligned to demonstrating potential applications to increase adoption and commercialisation.

With particular experience with video and image analytics, motivational natural language understanding and time series predictive monitoring and advanced machine learning architectures. Combined with a deep knowledge of the organisational, ethical, governance and cultural challenges for the adoption of AI. Extensive knowledge of related and supportive technologies, including big data architectures and strategies, IoT and quantum.

Currently he leads an AI consultancy, advising SMEs and PLCs on their adoption of AI capabilities to improve their business processes, products, and services. Also founder of AI Fund Venture Flows, investing in and advising many AI start-up companies, providing a range of support, both business and technical. Many of the AI start-up founders he advises have PhDs in Machine Learning and are looking to develop new AI innovations as part of their product offering.

An international keynote speaker, author, thought leader and futurist on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. In 2017, he was listed by IBM Watson in the Top 30 AI Influencers globally and in 2020 was an advisor to the film documentary We Need To Talk About AI.
